HistorySeixal is a Portuguese city belonging to the district of Setúbal and the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, with about 45,000 inhabitants. The name Seixal comes from the Portuguese word "pebble" because the region near the river is full of small fragments of rocks squandered by the water that are visible when the tide level is low.It was in Seixal that the brothers Vasco and Paulo da Gama built the boats for the voyage to India.
